Norwich: A Fairtrade City
Awarded Fairtrade City Status
The Fairtrade Towns initiative is an exciting project which aims to raise the profile of Fairtrade products and the Fairtrade Mark.
Fair Trade in Norfolk (FTiN) campaigned since 2002 to achieve the five goals set out by the Fairtrade Foundation.
With the support of Norwich City Council, prominent city businesses, voluntary organisations, schools, faith groups and the local media, Norwich was awarded Fairtrade City status in February 2005.
What about the rest of Norfolk? FTiN hopes that the larger towns will be working towards Fairtrade Town status in future. We will be happy to help them if we can.
Goals for a Fairtrade Town or City
In order to be accredited as a 'Fairtrade Town', a community must make a substantial commitment to raising awareness about Fairtrade and to encourage consumers to switch to Fairtrade products.
